New Recording of Solo Violin Sonata by William Harvey

William Harvey, Concertmaster at Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional (Mexico) recently recorded the Artur Schnabel sonata for solo violin.

Artu Schnabel Violin Solo Sonata played by William Harvey.

While still studying in 2002 he contacted Artur Schnabel’s heirs in search of the score for the solo violin sonata. Shortly after receiving the manuscript and learning the piece he was invited by WFMT Chicago to play the sonata and to talk about his experience with the composition.

More recently the Schnabel Music Foundation invited Mr. Harvey to revisit the violin sonata and record it for publication on a CD. Mr. Harvey accepted the suggestion and teamed up with his friend, the pianist Frederic Chiu to create a harmonious concert of the contemporary violin solo sonata and the Fantasy in C, D. 934, Op. 159 for violin and piano by Franz Schubert.
